Donald Trump supporters and Proud Boys are planning a Million MAGA March on Washington DC in support of his baseless allegations of election rigging.
Numerous groups and accounts promoting the event scheduled for Saturday, November 14 have appeared on Facebook, Twitter, and conservative favored social network Parler in the last 72 hours.
Washington DC’s Metropolitan Police Department confirmed it is aware of the plan and is continuing to monitor, assess, and plan accordingly.
The Million Maga March comes as tensions are running high as Donald Trump has repeatedly doubled down on 2020 election rigging allegations leading to the cry of stop the steal by his supporters.
He claims without offering evidence that president-elect Joe Biden and Democrats were involved in a gigantic voter fraud scheme across multiple states.
Various accounts promoting the Million MAGA March say it will take place at midday and take supporters from Freedom Plaza to the Supreme Court.
It takes its name from the Million Man March a gathering of African American men calling for social justice in 1995 but uses the acronym for Trump’s slogan Make America Great Again.
SITE Intelligence Group an organization that tracks jihadi, far-right, and far-left threats – has listed the event on their website as being organized by far-right groups.
Meanwhile, Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed the city is braced for pro-Trump events over the weekend including a caravan organized by the Proud Boys.
The Proud Boys are a far-right organization linked to violent clashes and created in 2016 by Vice Media co-founder Gavin McInnes.
Mayor Bowser said it is a police matter if Trump supporters and Proud Boys decide to openly carry weapons with only concealed carry with a permit allowed in DC.
City authorities have also imposed new coronavirus restrictions which mean anyone coming in from high-risk states to test negative for the COVID-19, 72 hours before traveling to Washington DC.
Videos are also being circulated on WhatsApp, TikTok, and YouTube all promoting pro-Trump events on Saturday in Washington DC.
Supporters also seem to be planning for another event called March For Trump which also starts at the same place.
Sizes of groups and accounts range from having tens of thousands of followers to just a handful but the videos appear too wide-reaching with hundreds of thousands of views.
The million maga march plan has also been promoted by infamous conspiracy theorist InfoWars host Alex Jones.
Jones said the cavalry is coming as he encouraged Trump supporters to descend on Washington in caravans this weekend while speaking on his show.
The MPDC confirmed they are aware of the plan for the million maga march.
As with any known First Amendment activity, we will continue to monitor and assess each activity, and plan accordingly.
Tweets promoting large scale gatherings in Washington have also been shared by large pro-Trump accounts.
Pro-Trump commentator Nick Fuentes posted about the event, and as did Pro-trump influencer Mark Lutchman.
Trump-supporting social media personality Samantha Marika has also promoted the event, as did online activist and journalist Cassandra Fairbanks and Republican-leaning rapper Bryson Gray.
Pro-Trump media group Right Side Broadcasting, known for providing live streams of Trump rallies, also promoted the event on its Twitter.
Speak to reporters on Tuesday, Mayor Bowser said: I huddled with my team this morning about an additional report of a caravan that might be starting somewhere in the South culminating here.
We continue to follow those activities and be prepared for those activities.
Our police chief will have a similar posture this weekend as he did last week.
And we will be there to support the peaceful exercise of First Amendment demonstrations.
It comes as last Saturday there were large scale street parties in Democrat-leaning cities and Washington DC as all the major news networks called the election for Joe Biden.
Joe Biden claimed victory in key swing states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan to push him and running mate Kamala Harris over the key threshold of 270 electoral college votes.
The president-elect has since called for unity, but Donald Trump has so far refused to concede and continues to claim he actually won the election.
Trump supporters have so far been holding smaller rallies at vote count sites amid the allegations blighting the U.S. election 2020.
