Orange County continues appointment-free vaccinations through Saturday

Orange County’s three mass vaccination sites will continue accepting walk-ins through Saturday, May 8, after testing out the service over the weekend.

Since the Orange County Health Care Agency opened its super pods (points of dispensing) at Disneyland, Soka University, and the Orange County Fair and Event Center, COVID vaccinations have been available by appointment only. But now that the rush for appointments has eased and supplies of vaccines have become more predictable, they’re allowing people who haven’t had the first shot to show up without pre-scheduling.

County spokeswoman Molly Nichelson said Monday that about 200 people came without appointments over the weekend, though the three mass clinics could have handled several times that number. Officials decided to continue the walk-ins until this weekend.

Each site also has one day a week when it operates from noon to 8 p.m. instead of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to accommodate those who can’t make it during business hours. For locations and hours of clinics, visit or call the hotline, 714-834-2000.
