LG’s upcoming smartphone will be called LG G8 ThinQ which could include laser 3D camera technology. This 3D camera is the newest innovation by LG. The laser will be used to figure out the width and intensity of whatever the object is. Then the data gathered will be used to create a 3D photograph.
According to the evidence, LetsGoDigital was the one who came up with this technology. It can be used to take pictures and videos.
Apple’s iPhone X had a front 3D camera. This was used for unlocking the phone using Face ID. However, LG wants to be one step ahead. It will introduce the 3D feature in its back camera as well, which will take high-quality pictures and videos.
‘How does it Operate?’
There is a laser sensor in the camera that will radiate light to the object. After the targeted object is touched, the light is bounced back to the sensor. It is quite similar to the human eye. Moreover, the information about the object helps the sensor to find out its distance, density, and other data. This is common with a 3D scanner.
Besides this, the most obvious application will be using security. Unlocking the phone becomes easier and it is comparatively a lot safer, just like the iPhone X face ID.
‘When will it come out?’
So far, there is no detail as to whether the new phone G8 ThinQ will include the 3D laser camera or the exact date of its launch. One thing for sure is that it will not be out until the start of the 2nd half of 2019. Guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
