Florida man kills friend while showing off gun he thought was unloaded

PALM HARBOR, Fla: A 26-year-old was shot dead at his friend’s house in Florida after he visited him to play video games.

Sean Cook visited his friend Shea Harkins’ house after which the two sat in the living room, Harkins retrieved a Colt M4 rifle he had been customizing before his friend arrived and thought of showing off the weapon to him, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Harkins told detectives that he had returned to the bedroom and pointed the rifle at his friend as a joke, at which Cook casually remarked “What, are you going to shoot me?”

Harkins confessed that he shot Cook while showing him what he had thought was an unloaded rifle, the police stated further.

Officers said that the gun had a bullet in the chamber, which struck Cook in the chest.

Cook was pronounced dead at Mease Countryside Hospital situated in the area while his friend, Shea Harkins has been charged with one count of manslaughter.
