A woman who was desperate to have a second child gave birth to an eBaby after she ordered some sperm and an insemination kit online. Stephenie Taylor, 33, from, Nunthorpe, Teeside, in North Yorkshire in England, conceived on her first try and gave birth to baby Eden.
Stephenie already had a son named Frankie, who will be five years old next month, with an ex-partner. She thought she would have to drop her plans of having a second baby when she found out how much private fertility clinics cost.
She then discovered the Just A Baby app from where she ordered some sperm and then bought an insemination kit from eBay. She learned how to use the kit with the help of YouTube tutorials.
“If I didn’t have access to all that electronically then she wouldn’t be here. But I’m over the moon to be a mum again and I’m proud of the way she came into the world,” the mum was quoted as saying by Mirror.
A friend recommended the Just A Baby app to Stephenie. The app works just like the dating app Tinder.
Stephenie wanted a family-oriented man with no history of serious illness, ideally with similar features to her so their child would look like Frankie. She found her match within a day.
The two messaged for three weeks after which the man dropped his sperm at her house in January 2020.
“He was nice, warm, and friendly and we had a cup of tea and chatted about the weather,” Stephenie said.
Two weeks after inseminating herself, Stephenie found out that she was pregnant.
Her mother and sister were delighted with the news, however, her father took some time to say that it was a brilliant decision.
Stephenie who welcomed baby Eden on October 15 last year described her as a miracle and a real online baby. She texted her donor to let him know about the baby’s birth.
Stephenie said that she would have no problem if Eden wants to meet the DNA contributor when she grows up.
The sperm donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, said, “She is an amazing person and I am happy to do it again if she’d like more children in the future.”
