Three dead, two injured as assailants opened fire on two cars in Karachi

A police guard and a driver was killed after attackers opened fire on Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani’s car at Karachi Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Friday.

In the same attack, Mufti Shahab, who was from Korangi’s Darul Uloom, his two guards and driver, were killed. DIG Aamer Farooqui said to the earlier report.

That religious scholar’s car was targeted on main Sharae Faisal by attackers on a motorcycle.

Mufti Zubair confirmed that Mufti Usmani was targeted in the attack. His son Imran Taqi confirmed his father is fine. His grandsons and wife were also in the car and were also safe.

Mufti Shahab was killed after attackers fired at his silver Toyota Corolla when it was exiting the Nipa Chowrangi bridge on the ramp leading to Aladin Park.

The CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah has taken notice and ordered the police chief to arrest the attackers as soon as possible. He wants to know how this happened and why.

He has ordered more patrolling in Karachi and stricter security at mosques in the city. CM Sindh also ordered the provision of medical facilities to those injured.

IG Sindh Kaleem Imam said that Maulana Taqi leads the Friday prayers at Baitul Mukarram Masjid and he was on way there when he was targeted. A police guard was killed in the incident, he said, adding that they are investigating
